  1. Manufacturer manual says: Do not put below.48 because it will burn out the anticipator. It appears to be already preset at 1.0 which is good. With safety a priority, I called the very helpful customer service at Atwood in Indiana to verify the exact thermostat model needed for the existing Atwood Hydroflame heater in my RV.

Re: Atwood Hydro Flame Furnace thermostat Question Depending on what kind of wiring you have going to your thermostat you may be able to change over to a digital. If you have red, yelo, black, white, brown and orange you should be able to swat it out.

The switch on the top is the on off switch. To the right is off, but even with the lever pusshed to the left 'on' position it still angles slightly right. And yes they can be difficult to move. The blower fan on has one speed. Moving it to the right increases temperature when the furnace cycles off. Click to expand. This is very helpful.

In the diagram you posted there is a part of the thermostat that has a temperature reading. Is that the current temperature, or does moving the bottom slider supposed to change that to the temperature you want the furnace to warm to? This is where I'm confused - on mine, moving the bottom slider does not adjust any temperature setting. Does this mean you can't set it to a certain temp. But instead you just sort of estimate how much heat you want it to put out to get to a comfortable temperature? At some point you will actually have to physically turn the switch 'off' if you want it to stop blowing warm air? I've not even turned my furnace on yet - I just got my camper last week but I'm going through everything trying to understand it all.

This portal has been EXTREMELY helpful. Thanks for your time.

Click to expand. No, with the on-off switch at the top turned 'on' the furnace blower will cycle on and off automatically to maintain a temp within a close range to where you have the bottom slide selected. In the 'off' position it turns off the control power to the furnace and it will not run at all, regardless of the temp. Now, the furnace blower will first blow air for a few seconds (10-20) and then the burner flame will ignite, this is normal. The furnace blows air to purge the system before lighting the actual flame.

When standing outside you will hear the blower fan start, then a series of 'click-click-click'. (that's the igniter lighting the flame). Then you will hear the flame light with a slight 'Woof' and then it's actually heating. The sound changes slightly 'deeper' as the burner is running. Also you will feel hot exhaust coming from the out side grill of the furnace.

Atwood Hydro Flame Thermostat Instructions

Some common reasons why the Hydro Flame furnace in your RV isn't working include improper voltage levels, dirt inside the blower wheels, and malfunctions involving individual moving parts. If voltage levels at the furnace are too low, the blower will not have enough power to run and produce heat; if too high, the circuit breaker may trip. Debris stuck in blower wheels will cause it to run loudly. Lastly, because every moving part must work synchronously, one or more parts may fail and cause problems throughout.
